Nikilitha Mantungwa is a 23 year old South-African music supervisor and entrepreneur who founded Kopton Music in 2023. Her career began while working as a sync licensing associate during her gap year after high school, where she landed her first placement on Netflix's 3rd season of Blood & Water, which inspired her pursuit of a career in the music industry. By the time Kopton Music was founded, Nikilitha was completing her 2nd year in a Bachelor of Music degree, where she majored in Music Education, Audio Engineering, Classical Guitar and Arts Management. During her studies, she played percussion at the NWU Symphony Orchestra in 2023, before her election to the orchestra’s management as the Head of Marketing in 2024 and re-elected in 2025. In the same year, she was selected to be a panelist on the youth advisory board of Girl Effect, which is an NGO founded by Nike, NoVo foundation and the United Nations.
Since inception, Kopton Music has doubled its roster size as well as its services by extension into music publishing, consultation and music supervision with clients such as Rain, Netflix, Jameson, Showmax, Weetbix, Astron Energy, MTN and DSTV. In addition to this, Kopton Music has international ties to Standard Music Library and FOLD Music in the United Kingdom, in the form of a sub-publishing production music deal for all African territories.
She is dedicated to nurturing the upcoming talent of South-Africa by showcasing music that audiences might not have heard before through music licensing in television, film and commercials. As such, Kopton Music got its name as "The Home of Sound"! Nikilitha recently graduated with Honours in a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of North-West in March and wrote a research dissertation titled “Entrepreneurship experiences in South Africa: An autoethnography by Kopton Music’s founder”. She is currently enrolled at the NWU’s School of Business, where she is completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Management.
