  • What is music licensing/sync licensing?
    Music licensing is the act of getting permission from a composer/songwriter/music publisher to use their music for a commercial, film, TV series, game or any kind of content. If you DO NOT license the music through the rights holders, you are committing a copyright infringement which can end up in legal and financial damages.
  • What is the difference between commercial music and library music?
    Commercial music is music that has been made by the artists on our "Talent" page charged at custom rates, depending on the usage type and territory. Library/production music is music that you can license under Capasso's fixed rates.   • How much does Kopton Music charge for licensing?
    We have commercial music, custom music and library music. Our library music (Standard Music & FOLD Music) can be licensed under Capasso's rates which can be accessed here: https://www.capasso.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/CAPASSO-2025-RATE-CARD.pdf and the rest of our music is charged depending on on the distribution (Eg: Online/Television), territory (Eg: Sub-Saharan Africa), campaign (Eg: 3 months) and usage duration (Eg: 60sec).   • How do I license music from Kopton Music?
    First click on our "Music" or "Talent" tab to find the artist or playlist you would like to license music from. Once you have found the song or playlist you would like to license, copy the link of the song and complete our licensing request form: https://www.koptonmusic.com/licensingrequest
  • What music can I license from Kopton Music?
    You can license bespoke music (custom made music), commercial music (made by the artists on our "Talent" page) as well as our library music in the "Labels" and "Music" page.
  • What is the music supervision service?
    If you are creating a film/commercial that you would like someone else to find music for and to legally license the music for your project on your behalf, we will assign you a music supervisor from our staff to assist with your project based on your needs. You can find our previous supervision work at the end of our "Services".
  • Does Kopton Music have an office?
    No, we are a 100% remote company and operate exclusively online. To get in touch with us, visit our contact page.
  • How do I submit my music?
    We love listening to new music so if our submissions are open, you will find a submissions tab in our menu so that it can be done in a form. We will also notify our followers on Instagram, X/Twitter and LinkedIn when we are looking for new music, so that you have plenty of time to submit when you are ready. Usually, submissions are open for 2 weeks-1 month, once a year.
  • What kind of artists is Kopton Music looking for?
    -Film trailer composers -Classical musicians -Voice over artists -Amapiano/Hip-Hop beatmakers -R&B/Neo-Soul singers -Female rappers All the artists above should have professionally recorded music to provide upon the opening of our 2025 submissions intake. The music does not have to be released but it needs to be professionally recorded. Please do not send us any unsolicited music.
  • When can I submit my music?
    Our next public intake will be in the first quarter of 2026. Any new musicians who end up on our roster before then have been scouted by our A&R team and have not had to submit any music. All unsolicited music submissions will be sent to spam.
