Year: 2025
Role: Assistant Music Supervisor
Contracted by: Quizzical Pictures
Description: As the assistant music supervisor, I was responsible for licensing music for the entire duration of season 1 alongside the music supervisor (Marc Algranti) . Together, we handled the creative direction in the music as well as the licensing process from rights holder and publisher contact and briefing, licensing fee negotiation, licensing agreements and ensuring that invoices were sent to the production team's finance department. We managed not to go over our budget and completed all of our licenses within the post-production timeline. I have an end-credit on all episodes where I licensed music.

Role: Sync Agent (Kopton Music on behalf of Nyota Parker)
Advertising Agency: M&C Saatchi Abel
Description: Weetbix was running a campaign with and requested a remix of "Can I Kick It" by A Tribe Called Quest. Marc Algranti (music supervisor) reached out to me via my agency Kopton Music, to see if we had anyone on the roster who could remix the song. At the time, Nota Parker was on the roster and I selected her to do the remix with a change of lyrics ("Can I Brick It").

Description: Astron Energy hosted a pop up at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, where they launched the Astron Energy Kids Club! The pop up had a choreographed flash mob at the main stage to draw in crowds and we (myself and Marc Algranti) were asked to license music for the day's event. We managed to get some unreleased music by Ice Beats Slide and Sbuda Maleather for the dancers to dance to and the crowd loved it!

Role: Music Consultant to Ludvig Gawell & Hamilton Eklof (via Kopton Music)
Description: Ludvig and Hamilton were Swedish composers who were new to composing for film. They had also just arrived in South-Africa and were referred to me for advice on their contracts with the production company. As a consultant, I assisted them in understanding their contracts and handled their publishing via Kopton Music so that they could receive them from Africa, as the show wasn't being shown in any foreign territories.

Role: Music Consultant to Ludvig Gawell & Hamilton Eklof (via Kopton Music)
Description: Ludvig and Hamilton were approached once more by the sae production company for Shaka ILembe. I negotiated a higher fee for their contract and also onboarded them for publishing in Africa with Kopton Music, so that they could earn their royalties in Africa from the show. As a consultant, I guided them on how licensing works, what they offer, what they should negotiate as well as the processes involved in delivering the music for the soundtrack.
Shaka iLembe (season 1) ended up being the most watched show in the history of DSTV. In addition to that, Ludvig & Hamilton's arrangements on the soundtrack had over 100 000 streams each on each streaming platform.

Role: Music Consultant to Monalisa (via Kopton Music)
Description: An artist approached me in 2023 because he had collaborated with some friends on music and found out that his music had been licensed for The Wife without his knowledge. Unfortunately, his collaborators had not included him in licensing agreements and there were no split sheets, so he never got paid and approached me to resolve the matter. After speaking to his collaborators and the production team of the show, I managed to draft a new split sheet with his share of the copyright and I managed to get him paid his portion of the licensing fee as well as registering his music and signing him under publishing, so that he could receive royalties from the Showmax streams.

Role: Music Licensing & Publishing Associate
Company: Cape Town Thing (Pty) Ltd.
Description: While working at CTT in 2021, I was responsible for a catalogue of music that was made in-house and managed to pitch it to Netflix for Blood & Water season 3. In total, 3 of the songs I had playlisted ended up on the show, earning the company just under R100 000 ($5500). This role involved extensive research on the show, pitching the music supervisor, catalogue metadata creation and licensing agreement explanations to artists before signing.
